I downloaded Freecorder from Applian's site, and soon noticed that my computer was slowing down. An hour after download, I could not connect to any internet site, and my machine was grinding to a halt. I uninstalled Freecorder, restored sytem, rebooted, and was OK. What happened? Also, must I keep the toolbar to run the application? Is the toolbar the only way to control Freecorder? I realize that I can hide it any time, but does it collect/transmit personal information, like a benign form of spyware? I would love to use Freecorder but am a little nervous. Any helpful hints most appreciated. I have Windows Vista Home Premium, and an adequately equipped machine.

Hi,
If Freecorder Toolbar has trouble recording, you may need to turn off User Account Control (http://applian.com/support-vista.php#UAC) in Windows Vista.
Let me know if this helps.

Thank you, Jeff. I since have successfully downloaded and used Freecorder with no problem. Seems I downloaded the first time from about.com, not applian.com. Hmmmm... I'll delete this thread after I give you time to see it.
