Make sure you have the setting correct under line in. Most of the time you will use stereo mix.
If you're having trouble recording, try the different options available for Line, under Settings in Freecorder. Different sound cards have different options available, so sometimes you need to experiment. To record what you hear over your speakers, you will usually see one of the following: Stereo Mix, Stereo Out, Wave Out Mix, What U Hear, Wave, Mix-Record.
Also, go into your control panel and make sure that you have the audio tab set for your default in both sound recording and sound playback.

I check and clicked on the "what you hear" selection. Now when I Hit record I get the "Another application is currently using the libraries need to record audio! You may only run one Freecorder at a time."
I only have one Freecoder running, I'm confused.

First, make sure that you stop recording. Then try settings and reset to default. Then try to record. If that doesn't work, remember to stop recording, and then experiment with the line settings as Cheryl stated. I have found this a good tool, but it tends to crash - I just recreated the crash and will post that separately.

When this happens you can do one of two things.
1. Open task manager, find freecorder.exe and delete it
or
2. Reboot your computer

Freecorder 2 normally will not work with Vista. We have not updated it to work with this.
Please see this link for more information regarding Vista. http://www.applian.com/support-vista.php
Here is the link for our brand new Freecorder toolbar. It is free. Give it a download and let us know how you like it. This program will work with Vista.

Hi Cheryl,
Freecorder 2 is working flawlessly with Vista for over a month for me then all of a sudden it choked. I try freecorder 3 but have trouble recording in WAV format. Freecorder3 functions are quite limited as compare to version 2, unless one update to the upgrade version. Just missed the simplicity to record using the old version of Freecorder 2.
I even uninstall and reinstall Freecorder 2 but it does not help. Maybe I have to delete all entries pretaining to Freecorder2 in the Registry and start over. The strangest thing is that it installed and recording fine in Vista before. Now it only recording from radio stations.:(:(

People are finding when they have a windows update that this is causing some issues for people with Vista. I know I'm not able to use it with my Vista machine.

hmmm.... It was just one video clip that I cannot record off using Freecorder2. I try some other video and sound clips, the recorder is working again. Thus there are some instances that the recorder cannot record off the sound being play, however I have no idea what type of sound file that is.

Running XP with Mozilla Firefox. It worked the first day but I was using IE, because of the security threat I'm now using Firefox, and although it shows that it's recording,,,I can't find it after I've stopped it. Help!!

Are you using the toolbar or the desktop application? Thanks. It does make a difference in how you use the program. I'm not sure based on your last comment.
