Hi, All,
I have been using The FreeCorder Toolbar 2.3.0.4 for some time, but since upgrading FireFox to version 3.6b1 it now shows as incompatible. I have installed the Ask & Record Toolbar and it seems to be going okay, but I do have a couple of questions. To record audio, must the Recording interface be showing before the audio starts, because if the "Record Audio" button is pressed while the audio is playing, nothing happens and no other buttons will work. FireFox has to be restarted to correct it. Am I doing something wrong?
Any suggestions much appreciated.

You do need to click Record Audio before going to the site and playing the audio that you want to record.

Hi, Tasha,
Thank you for your reply. From the instructions in the Help file that sounded the correct procedure.
Any ideas on my other glitch where all the buttons seem to freeze? They select when clicked, but do nothing until I restart FireFox. (Even "Settings" won't open).

Hi Tedwood. I see just the same symptoms - the buttons on the toolbar don't work at all. This problem has been outstanding with the guys at Ask for months. It's a bit rubbish that the Ask toolbar side of this has still not been fixed after all these months, but at least the Applian software to record audio works fine. I suppose the software is free after all, so maybe we ought not to complain too luch.
There is a satisfactory workround. Just create shortcuts on your desktop to the Ask & Record button functions you want to use. I mainly use Settings and Record Audio. I have two shortcuts on the desktop and it works correctly. In fact, I prefer this to pressing the buttons on the browser toolbar!
The programs for which you need shortcuts are in C:\Program Files\Ask & Record Toolbar\. Record Audio is AARRecord.exe, Settings is AARSettings.exe.

Hi there, Les Gnome,
Many thanks for your prompt and informative reply. I had previously read your other post on this subject in the forum. Okay, I've just put the shortcuts I want into a folder and put a shortcut to the folder on my Task Bar. All sweet now. It's a shame the toolbar can't be toggled off and on as that would probably do the trick. Switching FF off then on again works, but is a bit slow.
As a matter of interest, do you use the Convert option? I find that is very convenient. If you do use it, what output format do you use? I only play my video clips on my home PC so I suppose WMV would be the most suitable. As I live in New Zealand we operate on PAL, so 25 fps is the frame speed I need.

I routinely have many tabs open in Firefox so exiting and starting Firefox was a major pain for me!

I don't use the convert option - I may have used it once or twice to check it out. I mainly use A&R to record streaming audio, mainly radio programmes that I might want to listen to again in the future. I've used Videora iPod Converter to convert Youtube & other formats to view on my video iPod. I know the screen is small but I use it for short clips rather than feature films! I don't often look at video on my PC.

Thanks for this one Les Gnome. I might as well just do this one too.

Okay, I've just installed version: 3.4.4.113 and there's no change to the problem.
