freecorder to record streaming music

I had installed freecorder and tried to record a streaming audio. I have used the settings as given below.

sound card- there is only one and it has been selected by default.
Line- I selected line volume

I am unable to hear the audio in any of the audio players though the recorded file shows 3MB. what could have gone wrong.

Did you use freecorder or freecorder toolbar?
