Hi. I have an Acer Aspire 8920 laptop running Vista Ultimate SP1, and Firefox 3.5.3, Chrome 3.0, Opera 10.0 and (rarely) IE8. I downloaded and installed Ask&Record toolbar hoping to find a workaround to a shortcoming on this machine which doesn't allow you to record from "what you hear" or stereo mix - only line-in or mic inputs are apparently built in.
I had no problems installing, and the toolbar appeared on Firefox, but seemed to have no effect - except I now have NO sound whatsoever! The level meters reflect what I'm playing (whether using RealPlayer to play files or CDs, Audacity, or playing something online, e.g. Youtube, via Firefox) but it's just as if the wires to the speakers have been cut.
I uninstalled Ask&Record in the hope this would overcome the problem, but sadly it hasn't. Nothing appears as muted, I haven't got anything plugged into the headphone socket (which is also silent, by the way). The Sound device says it is functioning correctly. Any clues anyone?
