View Full Version : Ask & Record Toolbar software not reliable in Firefox and Internet Explorer

I installed this software 2 weeks ago or so and to start with it seemed to work OK in both Firefox and Explorer. I am now very frustrated because it has stopped working in Firefox (you click on the toolbar icons and nothing happens) and In Explorer, it seems to start recording a video but when trying to save or play the video, the program just hangs (the usual not responding message). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software several times but still get the same problems.
Are the software developers deliberately making this program difficult to use so that we are forced to buy the alternative (and presumably better) equivalent software?

Did you start getting problems with Ask & Record Toolbar after upgrading Firefox? What version of Firefox do you use?

We have seen these issues with the latest browser versions. We are expecting a new toolbar build from Ask that should clear this up.

Tasha,
Thank you for the information about the expected up date does anyone know when this update is supposed to become available? When it is available will we have to re-download the software or will we just need to download a system patch? And finally will we be informed that it is now available or will we have to just keep checking back and hope for the best?:D

We were told the toolbar should get to us by early September. You will need to download the toolbar again when it is released.

Tasha,
Thank you for letting us know what the basic plan was in regards to when the newer software will become available :). Do you happen to know if a post will be made letting everyone know that the updated software is available when it does become available?:D

The Ask and record toolbar was supposed to be updated in early September it is now August and there is still no update...So what happened did you all just decide not to bother any more or what?

I currently have WinXP Professional installed, and also upgraded to Firefox 3.5 and newer versions. The Ask recorder would work only in IE8, and only the first time after opening a new Firefox page (not tab). I created a shortcut on my desktop pointing to the Ask recorder executable "C:\Program Files\Ask & Record Toolbar\AARRecord.exe" installed on my computer. I then dragged the shortcut to my task bar>quick launch where I can easily access it. Now whenever I want to record something, I just go to the shortcut, press it, and the "Ask and Record Toolbar - Audio" window comes up ready to record. It's functions are the same, the only thing that changed was the way it is being activated.

This was addressed in another thread:
Ask & Record Toolbar Not Compatible w/ Firefox 3.5
Quick update - I know that many of you are getting frustrated with these issues. We are now expecting the new build from Ask near the end of October or the beginning of November. I know this has been kind of a pain, and I thank you for your continued patience!!
