I had the Ask-Applian toolbar running on Windows 7 x32 Release Candidate. It was working perfectly. Since I do have a dual core 64 bit PC, I recently installed the x64 version of Windows 7 RC. I can't get the toolbar program to install.

It goes through the process and at the end says it can't finish the installation because there is another instance of an Ask toolbar installed on the PC.

Ahhh. No there isn't! It was just a fresh install.

Running AMD AM2 Dual Core 4800 w/2GB Ram. Asus M2A-VM HDMI mobo and, well Windows 7 RC x64.

Any thoughts would be great. (I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times now to no avail... I AM in an ADMINISTRATOR account)

I have the same problem. Unfortunately Ask doesn't support 64 bit systems.

I ran it for over a year on XPx64, the only problem I ever had was that it crashed occasionally while converting.

The message I get with 7x64 is as follows:
"Unable to Complete Installation
We've detected that you have a browser or operating system that is not supported by the Toolbar"

After it goes through the entire installation of course, then it doesn't roll back and I have to uninstall manually.

I even tried granting full admin. control & troubleshoot compatibility option, it made no difference. I do have FFx 3.5.6 & IE8, could it be one of those rather than Win7?

Ask does not support Windows 7 either. You can download Freecorder 4 here (http://www.applian.com/freecorder4/download.php). This has all of the same components as the Ask Toolbar.

I have Fast Video Download installed in FFx. It's made by Applian and only seems to save the video in it's existing format.

When I try the convert option, it tries to sell me software, but at least it saves.

I can play any format in WMP anyway.

I can wait for them to get A&R to work in Win7.

Did you see the post above? Freecorder 4 has all of the same components as the Ask Toolbar. It is free as well.
