sirius works; streaming works; line input doesnt

As the title suggests, I can record Sirius and various internet streaming radio shows. But when I connect a receiver to the computer's line input, I can hear the music from the receiver through the computer's speakers, but cannot record it. (I have a Vista operating system.)
I have tried the tutorial to no avail.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is not easy to do with Vista due to the way they handle audio. Please go into your sound settings in Vista. Make sure you can enable line in? If you are not able to enable it then it won't work with Vista due to the limitations.
