Putting A Shortcut On Desktop

I'm totally new to using the toolbar and I have searched the FAQs but haven't found anything relevant!! Anyway...is the toolbar only able to be added in a browser or is there any way to put it on the desktop or the task bar or even Quick Launch? Just in case this makes any difference,I'm on Vista Home Premium.

It is a toolbar, nothing else. It can only be used in your browser.
