640x480 is currently an experimental resolution. It may not work on some systems.

Hello everybody and thank you for helping me/us out with this. I am really sorry if this has already been answered.
I would like to know if anybody has figured out how to fix or go around this, because "It may not work on some systems" is very interesting.
I am using a Slingbox AV don't know the Firmware off hand, probably newest.
Slingplayer Version 1.2.0.157
At Large Recorder Version 2.3
On a different Computer where I don't have At Large Recorder I have installed Sligplayer 2.0 where I get up to around 3000 kbs and perferct Resolution.
I set 640x480, but always only records 320x240.
Anybody some Ideas? Thanks for you help.

I have had very similar problems. I ended up rolling back the firmware in order to solve the problem. I have never been able to get the resolution issues to iron out with the new versions of slingplayer. Here is a thread that explains more.

I tried everything and still can't record higher than 352 x 240. I see that people with the classic can record 640x240, which I can't even do.
Anything wrong with using this combination?
-At-Large Recorder 2 v2.4
-SlingPlayer 1.5
-Firmware of Slingbox 1.2.16
-Slingbox Pro with HD dongle
I've tweaked with settings (slingplayer and at-large) all day and it just wont record at a decent resolution (views fine through slingplayer).
Any help is appreciated.

"640x480 is currently an experimental resolution. It may not work on some systems."
I bought my At-Large Recorder last year. I've seen this response on this problem for almost a year. When is this "experimental resolution" going to be fixed?

I had the same problem.
After trying out all the possible solutions out there, I could only get 320x240.
So I created an automatic process and used VirtualDub to capture SlingPlayer.
Although this was a good high res, I wasn't completely happy with the sync.
Then after reading various forums, it seemed others were able to record at 640x480,
but they had to downgrade the Slingbox's firmware.
So I managed to get old firmware off google, hex edit it and downgrade.
Now At-Large Recorder (ALR) 2.4 records at 640x480.
I have a new UK SlingBox Solo.
After the downgrade it seemed Slingplayer 2x didn't connect.
However, the main reason I bought the Slingbox was to record.
Note: SlingPlayer 1.5.1 still works though.
I guess the new firmware updates break the old recording code?
The recording code hasn't been updated in about 18 months.
The old firmware (1.0.13) I am using is dated 09/21/2007.

Last year i could record in all the video sizes but when i upgraded to 1.2.10 firmware which was released in december 2008 i couldn't use the bigger video sizes anymore.
but my nokia mobile phone screen is 240x320 so don't need the bigger resolution anyway right now.

Does it improve the playback with the higher resolution? Isn't the classic limited to 320x240 anyway? It seems like the higher resolution setting in the recorder is causing a buffer underflow and making it choppy.

Thanks for posting this- I was about to buy At-Large but it seems they are a bit useless at fixing problems - all I want is to get this recording at 640x480. Hopeless. I guess I ain't gonna buy now.
If they cannot sort out 640x480 then no chance on them being able to record through a proxy server too.
I have had problems before with recording with Replay Media Catcher - and their 'help' was less that stellar - more like useless
